We are a Harvard MBA-UC Berkeley founder team, leading Zor Technologies (formerly known as Solara), an award-winning for-profit social enterprise. Our mission is to bring affordable and reliable electric energy to off-grid agricultural regions through a battery-sharing network. Through our platform, farmers and rural residents will be able to break their dependence on expensive fossil fuels and use cheaper and more energy-efficient electric appliances for irrigation, mechanization, and transportation.
Zor is at a critical inflection point — with a field-validated proof of concept, field partnerships with the most prominent NGOs in Indian development, and hundreds of farmers in Odisha and Jharkhand on our waiting list in place, Zor is ripe to disrupt the rural irrigation and energy landscape. We’re now looking for a entrepreneurial, mission-driven technical lead to bring the product from concept to reality.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Engineer to take full ownership of the end-to-end product development of the first commercial prototype of our rural battery share systems and charging stations. This role will be incredibly fast-paced and will require a high degree of scrappiness, creativity, and adaptability. You will be responsible for leading the design, building, and deployment of battery packs and charging infrastructure tailored to the unique needs of off-grid agricultural regions.
As one of the first technical hires, you will have significant autonomy and be involved in strategic decision-making, reporting directly to the CEO. This is a hands-on role where you will need to be both a strategic thinker and a doer, driving the product through its entire lifecycle in a resource-constrained startup environment.
This will be a project-based contractor role, tasked with bringing our first commercial prototype to market. There is possibility of renewing the contract and converting the role to full-time based on future business needs.
